On a different topic: There's a couple of ways in which cutting a 3D object could make an ellipse: we could cut eg. a cylinder, a sphere, or a cone. Is there a way to relate dimensions of such a shape and the cutting angle to the resulting ellipse's foci? I looked at wikipedia definitions, but there is hardly anything there that I could consume and digest on my own ;-)
