The Roman fleet (Latin classis Romana) became the pinnacle of the development of ancient naval forces. He absorbed the best achievements of the conquered peoples, logically completing and summing up the development of maritime affairs in antiquity.
The Roman people always had a fleet ready for the glory, benefit and greatness of their state, and not because of necessity in any excitement; precisely so that there would never be such a need, he always had a fleet ready.
