The minimum is a 6 year contract, I’m a 17C in AIT now. JCAC is the most sought after school in the army. JCAC is an NSA run program that certifies you in JCAC after graduating. You essentially work for the NSA dealing with army bullshit. JCAC is very fast paced and difficult but it’s entirely possible to pass it. You can be attached to an SF group doing boots on ground (LLVI) which is (Low Level Voice Interception). Being a 17C is super dope, and the training is amazing. I definitely recommend doing it, but due to poor class management, there is a waiting time to get into class. So you will become a hold at Pensacola for at least a month before starting class.

I'm going 17C I ship out in 3 weeks. I have cyber security experience from college including being on a demo team and joint collaboration with US Northern Command. This looks to be the exact same courses i took in college from reviewing the course work at AIT. Although from a military point of view instead of civilian. So A+ hardware/software, Linux, windows server, Cisco "CCNA 1-4", Security+, ethical Hack 1-2, Etc. as long as you study it is not that hard. In my opinion the only thing that made college hard was working full time and managing time with your family to make sure i had studied enough. Even with that to manage it was not that bad. I'm excited to see what the Army has to offer.

17C MOS:
First: Having the line scores GT= 110 | ST=112
Lets say you meet this requirement

Second: To my knowledge new recruits or prior service have to take the (ICTL) which is now called the (cyber test)
ICTL you have to score a 60 to pass
39 questions (30 MIN)

I remember some of the questions that I know I got right. I passed with a 60. I'm sharing this information because it was shared with me. I have no I.T background, Don't program. Just studied, I tried to tackle the test with out of 39 method. So if I got 24 right I would be in the safe zone. I don't feel that I got 24 correct. (my opinion) its like when you take the ASVAB thinking you probably did poorly but get a 70.

1. What is a topology that is straight lined? BUS TOPOLOGY
2. What is the shortcut to paste? CTRL+V
3. What is the file extension for excel? XLS
4. What Microsoft software would you use to make a presentation? Power Point
5. What OSI Model is IP pertain to? The Network
6. What is the file extension for the web? HTM
7.Would a corporation use a LAN or WAN. The answer would be (WAN)
8. If you were doing research what Microsoft software would be best? Word
This is all I remember from the top of my head. Took the test 2 weeks ago

TIPS for (ICTL):
- Study the OSI Model
-Microsoft programs
-Know the components of a computer (hardware)
- Understand RAM, Hard Drive

The test mostly asks you to select an answer based on the scenario that you really can't be prepared for. So it's up to what you know and can find on the internet.

This is the information that helped me 3 days out from the test:
- you should try to learn the OSI model and each level. Not TCP/IP. One of the questions asked me what level of the OSI model IP addresses pertained to. The answer is the Network.
-the common MS Office programs are and what they are used for. A few questions asked what program I would use in certain situations. To make a presentation use powerpoint stuff like that
- More office stuff like what file extensions that office programs use. I.e. XLS for excel. also it asked me what was the shortcut to paste (CTRL+V). .HTM for Internet explorer
-There was one algebra question. very easy stuff. like basic. I'm no math expert and I did it.
-try to learn common types of cyber attacks. it asked me what a tear drop attack was. Something I did not study for.
-read about good practices for security. it asked me the first thing a new user should do when setting up an account. I think it was to change the password. Kinda common sense.
-look up how you would system recover windows.
-Learn about each type of network hardware. Hub, switch, router, ethernet, cat5, cat 6, fiber. Ring network. Server, Host, Client.
-hard ware components in a PC
-what SQL is

Networking for dummies 9 books in 1 from books a million. If I went through the whole thing I probably would've had a higher score and better understanding

Goodluck to everyone who's taking the test.
If you remember any questions share them

I got 17C just swore and signed my contract 2 days ago. I got very lucky. This just is rarely if ever available. And the contract for this job is a minimum of 6 years. Along with the high score of the asvab. You also have to pass this test called the ICLT - Internet Comprehension Literacy Test. Passing is 60 and I got 65. My asvab was 90 with a gt score of 123.

Don’t know any 17C but I knew a 35Q which is what they used to be called. He said the training wasn’t too difficult as long as you pay attention.

Idk if anyone is taking the cyber test it is not just Itcl it’s literally cybersecurity test. It’s not just hardware, software, osi model, theoretical etc. it’s practical questions like for example a computer might be showing symptoms of a certain malware you have to identify what type of malware is it. Some type of an attack happened what is your plan of action from there on. There will also be some question on social engineering, binary system, and networking like what is a valid ip, dns etc. I would recommend reading comptia security+ and network + by author Conklin. Again it is not a Itcl(basic computer knowledge test) it’s a cybersecurity test now. Edit this is not a entry level job anymore

I just took the ICTL with a 74% and I didn’t study at all but now the issue is job availability, I got the vibe from my recruiters that there’s a good chance they won’t be able to get me this MOS.

I been looking at this job information from the army and air force and it seems doing it in the army it has more benefits (at least they stated them online) I want to do this. I don’t meet the weight requirements yet. I just graduated with my bachelors in Criminal Justice and Psychology and going to grad school for Information science. Hopefully by the end of the first year I’ll met the weight requirements to join the military
