My 6th grade science teacher showed this to us on our first day. It got me so excited about science that I aced every science class since. I'm going to go to college soon for theoretical physics. Thanks Mr. Lewis!

He didn't explain it properly. When blowing from a distance, your breath drag's atmospheric air along with it, multiplying the air going into the bag.

I figured this out on my own. I'd make a bunch of popcorn and put it in a trash bag to salt it. I needed to blow up the bag like a balloon to shake it around and realized leaving a small opening and blowing into it from a distance inflated the bag in one breath. A whole lot more sanitary than blowing directly into the bag.

The bag was full of air when he blew into it. Opening the bag at the end caused it to equalize in pressure with atmosphere.
