Mayor Ben Walsh Budget Presentation

Mayor Ben Walsh delivers the City of Syracuse proposed budget to Syracuse Common Council. Mayor Walsh also announces Balancing Act as the engagement tool to help city residents and stakeholders interact with the upcoming budget. Balancing Act is an online platform that simulates municipal budgets. Balancing Act is being used in communities across the nation, including recently by the Syracuse City School District, for citizen engagement on government spending. The tool is populated with dollar amounts reflecting the Mayor’s proposed FY2021-2022 budget. Users can experiment with allocating funds from one department to another as well as moving dollars to and from city initiatives. Users can also clearly see the city's operational needs and fixed expenses.
