Best Waterproofing Spray for Jackets (2021)

In this short review video I show what I consider is the best waterproofing spray for jackets. I have been using this Atsko Silicon Water-Guard for over 10+ years. I have found it superior over other waterproofing sprays for jackets for several reasons as I discuss below.

1. The cost - Atsko Silicon Water-Guard spray is only $9 and is readily available on Amazon, Wal-Mart etc
2. The quantity - You get a lot of spray per can and I am able to apply an application to 6-7 jackets per can
3. Treats many different materials
4. Only one application is needed unlike other waterproofing sprays that take two or even three coats to be effective
5. Longevity - I live in Seattle where it rains a lot and I find I only need to re apply this waterproofing spray once a year.

Good to get info like this from someone who lives in a wet environment. For the last 2 years it hasn’t stopped raining on east coast of Aust and my Goretex jackets don’t bead anymore. Gunna give this product a crack.

Just put this stuff on my bimini top for my boat, , , rains all the time here in Florida, , , so far so good with the water-repellent

Oh man you should wear a respirator when putting that stuff on. This is definitely one of the better waterproofing sprays but if you want a more robust waterproofing for rugged outerwear make your own silicone spray with silicone and mineral spirits. You can apply it with a paintbrush or a little Wagner airless sprayer it will last a lot longer and you can make a lot more for a lot less money. You can also change the strength of the formula if you want is super thick and more rubbery.

I’m going on a big ole sailing trip and my jacket after some field tests was not entirely impervious to the wet. Really nice jacket though. This treatment will get it the last 20 percent to make it a jacket I can rely on. Thanks!

Great video. Thanks!! I really need a good inexpensive product. Does the Atsco leave an odor? Very important to me because some lingering chemical odors can trigger migranes.

This one is good for gortex? Any color difference afterwards?

Would you use this on a brand new North Face jacket that's "Water Repellent"? Is it going to change the texture of the fabric? I guess it will eventually wear off so it won't be permanent. That info is helpful
