Creating Your Own Jazz Lines - 1

A long time ago, back when I was just a classical playing boy, I attempted to come up with my own jazz lines. Nothing I played sounded cool. It was all so classical-sounding. But now, as years have passed, I've transcribed many solos and studied a lot. I am equipped with knowledge and vocabulary to string together my own ideas while staying true to the language. I think you're ready too! Let's create.

This was great, but could u do a video using more simple chord progressions (ex. Autumn Leaves/ Blue Bossa/ even On the Sunny Side) and teach us how to go super saiyan blue on it like you. I’m a self taught alto player who is tryna get nasty.

P.s i’d watch a 30 min vid if you explain it for dummies like me.

I appreciate hearing your process. Most people just say "here's a line I made, learn it".

I would love to see you make another one of these videos. It was really cool seeing the in depth thought process of creating an interesting jazz line!

Thank you for explaining the simple stuff along with the more complicated stuff. It helps me so much to learn new things when the basics are still recognizable in what you’re teaching. It’s grounding.

Man thats fantastic. I always think improvising is too hard because I can't think that fast, but this clearly shows that the preparatory work is capital. Thanks a lot for the method and the approach. +i'd clearly watch a 30min video of this :D

Cool video.
Miss Jones was a trap that older musicians set up when I started going to jam sessions.
Good to have a strong vocabulary for it.

Great video man! I began my study of bebop and am gaining a lot from tutorials like this. I'm not yet at the point where I can practice for long periods of time without getting lost because I'm still working on the foundation - approach tones and arpeggios. Thankfully my classical chops gave me good scales. You're an inspiration!

Edited because I wasn't paying attention to what Saxologic was actually saying
