"The Fool on the Hill" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 EP and album Magical Mystery Tour. It was written and sung by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. The lyrics describe the titular "fool", a solitary figure who is not understood by others, but is actually wise. McCartney said the idea for the song was inspired by the Dutch design collective the Fool, who derived their name from the tarot card of the same name, and possibly by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

The song's segment in the Magical Mystery Tour television film was shot separately from the rest of the film and without the other Beatles' knowledge. Accompanied by a professional cameraman, McCartney filmed the scene near Nice in France.

In 1968, Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66 recorded a cover version of the song that reached the top ten in the US. By the late 1970s, "The Fool on the Hill" was one of McCartney's most widely recorded ballads. A solo demo and an outtake of the song were included on the Beatles' 1996 compilation album Anthology 2.

Paul made this video 31.10.1967 in France. It was 56 years ago! Greatest song! Thank you, Mr. Paul McCartney!

My mom introduced this song to me. She told me about how she fell in love with Paul while watching this videoclip when she was a little girl. Now, we both enjoy listening to The Beatles together and I'm very glad she shared this part of her life with me.

This was one of my mum's favourite songs. She used to play it on the piano and I used to sing. It's nearly 37 years since she died and I still miss her every day. 💔💔

When I was a little kid in the early days of YouTube discovering new Beatles songs I’d never heard before because my dad preferred their earlier material, I always loved this one the most because I related to the lyrics for some reason. Then as an adult I found out I’m autistic and when I listened to the song for the first time post-diagnosis suddenly it all made sense to me why I related to it. I always felt different from everybody else and never knew why so now when I listen to it I appreciate it on another level because it has it a new meaning, even though I’m sure Paul didn’t intend for it to mean that when he wrote it back in 1967.

I wish to someday be as happy as Paul McCartney galavanting on that hill.

To me the Beatles are more than just the defining sound of a generation they are the sound of the dawning of a new era of human subjectivity and expression

Another beautiful song by the greatest musical artist ever. Something that I've noticed in comments about the Beatles is all the different languages. People around the world love the Beatles.

Paul was certainly the heart of the Beatles, without him, the band wouldn't have lasted even 5 years.

A great song that is often overlooked. Still feels fresh today. Greatest band ever. The diversity in their music will never be repeated again by any other group or artist.

Back in the 70s we had an hour of music once a week. We would take turns picking songs to sing. This was the song I'd always pick 🥰 just hearing it really brings me back to that time in my life

Paul kinda looks like he's from the Victorian Era in this video. Or maybe I'm as high as they were in this movie
