Amid dismal California voter turnout so far, organizations work to encourage voting

With less than a week away from California's June 7 Primary Election, local organizations are seeking to educate more people on the importance of voting, hoping to increase turnout. According to Political Data Intelligence, or PDI, which has been tracking voter data for decades, the current number of ballots returned so far is “lower than expected.” PDI data as of June 1, 2022, shows that out of the nearly 22 million ballots that have been mailed out to Californians, just over 2 million have been returned. That is about 10%.
