Ariens Professional 28 Hydro EFI : 3 Year Snowblower Review with 18'+ Snow

What a crazy storm! Perfect timing to shoot a video after 3 successful years of owning the Ariens Professional 28 Hydro EFI. Its been an absolute pleasure to own. Its powerful, easy to maintain, reliable, and throws snow as easy as any snow blower on the market!

It's nice to see someone use something a few years before they review it! I have the 30" EFI and this is its 3rd winter too. It's a beast for sure. However... last winter it stopped running suddenly. Long story short, I had to buy a fuel injection module (($208 plus shipping).

I upgraded to the 2023 Professional 28 Hydro EFI from a 20 year old 32 in Toro here in Buffalo, NY. The technology increase in snow throw distance sold me. Hydrostatic drive is insanely smooth, fast, maintenace free and much easier than going through frustrating ladder logic shifting. If you can afford it you won't be sorry. Mine also has electronic joystick chute control introduced on 2023 models. Another game changer for arthritic hands or wrists. As an ASE mechanic I do not recommend running them out of gas. YES, the tank is only 2.9 qts and way "too small " for a huge 420 cc (approx 13 hp) engine. What was Ariens thinking?? It's says Professional and should have a more robust gas tank. My only complaint so far. I have figured out that running on 3/4 throttle does save 25% more fuel and it has the power to do so in 1 foot fluffy snow. 1 pull starting at an idle with an infinite throttle control potentiometer, is also very impressive. I have been hearing alot of problems on 5 year old EFI models failing. Lets hope Ariens has the kinks worked out for the newer EFI models as it is a complex system that can be expensive to fix. That being said, I love this machine. Long live the King 👑 of snow.

If you try not to take a whole swath you wont have any snow spilled off to the side, so no need to re-due another path. (saves time) Unless your showing off the amount of snow it can gobble. (Mine is a Platinum 24" SHO/EFI Great Lakes Edition)☃

You should look into the new style gas can where the spout comes off the bottom corner but flow control is still on top of the can the only thing near the tank is the tip of the 12 inch spout

I believe Ariens does sell a weight kit for the front of most of their snow blowers

Nothing like a good blower. 😏I'm sure it is much better than scooping it up with shovels like I did as a kid. 😂👍 Gotta love technology though.

Tracks will indeed work better for handling the rough and heavy snow by keeping the bucket down where it belongs = less wear and tear on the guy standing behind it.

GREASE THE AXLES! Get the machine into service position, Take the wheels off & grease the crap out of everything. Otherwise after a few seasons the wheels will become fully seized. Very costly repair.
