Courteney Cox and her rocker boyfriend Johnny McDaid prove love really is in the air as they take a flying lesson in LA
She celebrated her longtime boyfriend Johnny McDaid's Grammy nomination for cowriting Ed Sheeran's hit song Bad Habits earlier in the week.
And Courteney Cox took their relationship to a whole new level on Saturday when she and Johnny got a flight lesson in Santa Monica, California.
The 57-year-old Friends star and the 45-year-old Snow Patrol member were spotted arriving at an air field in the morning before boarding a small aircraft.
Courtney kept her look simple and casual for her lesson with a slim black short-sleeve sweater and olive-colored pants.
Johnny was even more reserved in a black hoodie with black jeans and matching shoes.
He carried along a black backpack as the two exited their Tesla and headed to the airplane.
Once they were on the tarmac, Courteney and Johnny stopped to chat with their flight instructor before they climbed aboard the small plane, which appeared to be a 2004 Cirrus SR22 G2.
An earlier variation of the plane was first built in 2001, and it has gone on to become the best-selling vehicle for general aviation for nearly two decades.
The plane seats four to five people and is a popular choice for flying schools and private pilots, thanks in part to a parachute attached to the craft that can allow to make a safe landing in emergencies.
An in-air emergency from 2019 doesn't seem to have diminished Courteney's interest in flying at all.
In February of that year, she and her Friends costar Jennifer Aniston were flying to Mexico's Cabo San Lucas to celebrate Jennifer's 50th birthday when their private plane lost a wheel during takeoff.
The issue didn't appear to affect the plane once it was in the air, and it even made it into Mexican airspace before the pilot opted to turn around and land back in California.
The vehicle appeared to land without incident despite the missing wheel, though Courteney and Jennifer were forced to fly around for hours to drain most of the airplane's fuel before touching down.
Courtney later claimed to Extra that she's normally cool as a cucumber when flying, but the missing wheel gave her a fright.
'I’m not afraid of flying at all... my dad was a pilot… but I was really scared because when we were taking off, we heard this really loud bang and I was like, "Oh, that sounds like we should probably check that tire,"' she recalled, adding that there was 'no tire at all' and 'no wheel' left.
Even though it turned out to be a minor issue, the actress made sure to be in touch with the two most important people in her life: her daughter Coco Arquette, whom she shares with her ex-husband David Arquette, and Johnny.
She texted 'I love you' to her daughter without explanation 'told [Johnny] everything that was going on' before FaceTiming him after they had landed.
Courteney and the Snow Patrol pianist and guitarist were first introduced through some of the mutual celebrity friends before striking up a relationship in September 2013.
The couple got engaged six months later, though they later canceled their wedding plans in 2015 despite staying close friends.
The two reunited in London in April 2016 and have been together ever since.
By April 2016, they reunited in London and have been a solid item ever since.
On Wednesday, Courtney shared some cute snaps of herself embracing Johnny while celebrating his Grammy nomination for co-writing Ed Sheeran's single Bad Habits.
'Somebody was nominated for a Grammy (song of the year)!' she wrote, before adding that she was 'so proud' of her musician beau.
