Howdy folks, this is a little bit of a different video from my recent typical repair content, but I've had a few requests for an ownership update on my 2015 Model S 70D, and didn't really have anything else to upload this week, so I threw this together pretty quick. If you've got any questions, feel free to ask them in the comment section below!

Stay tuned for more future EV repair content, and if you have an EV in need of repair, feel free to get in touch!

I have a 2015 model S 85, this car has only done 41000 kms, I love it. I've done the CCS2 and MCU2 upgrades and also the rear drive coolant delete (I saw this on your channel). I just purchased a front bumper upgrade from TSportline, this makes it look like the face lift model. The new bumper has been checked and fitted to the car with the parking sensors fitted, taken off and sent to a body shop for paint work. It's going to look next gen awesome soon.

I look forward to a 100kWh battery upgrade video!

At least in Australia the MCU2 upgrade came with both new screens and resolved the brown border on some touch screens, bubbles on the speedo screen, 3G network shut down and most importantly the emmc issue (black screen death). Also it seemed only MCU2 vehicles got frequent software updates, while MCU 1 had previous years versions. I felt it was done at cost by the SC as it takes a whole day of labour.

Proud to have that many miles but a lot of things needed replacing.

It’s interesting to me that replacing the battery and the front drive motor was still economically viable for the previous owner. I wonder what would prevent the car from doing one million miles.
Thanks for sharing.

1ST COMMENT!
(I've owned 6 cars in my life. 40 years driving. Combined all the mileage in those cars I'm still way short of 300, 000 total driving).

My 2015 70D still runs with original batteri and DU`s. Batteri only degraded 1 % per year in average. In my opinion the best Model S. I also have a 85 Model S both driven 360.000 km on each. But our 2014 has had a new DU due to ingress of coolant.

Another great and straight forward Video. Thank you.

When I fly up to pick up the 2015 S after the LDU upgrade, I want to talk about: "If all the used Tesla Model S cars on the market were the same price and your purpose of purchasing just one ideal configuration was for treating the S like an "F250 Tesla" and putting tons and tons of miles on it with reliability and low cost of ownership being the primary desires, which Model S of all the Model S years and configurations would you recommend?
For example: Adjustable Suspension - "Yes" or "No". Dual motor- "Yes" or "No", Free Super Charging (not necessarily transferable). "Yes" or "No", battery- 70.85, 90, 100.... (which is best for long, long term ownership and hundreds of thousands of miles?). Please consider giving it some thought because we are thinking about becoming a three model S family with one model S replacing our Lexus RX 350 that we treat like an "F250 LEXUS" and have 2XX, XXX.0 trouble free miles on. But seeing this YouTube got us wondering if we would be happier with an S rather than the RX350 (which has. a nearly incomparable 400 Mile Range).

The 100 kW battery has had more issues then 70 and 85 kW. Best so far for our family is our brand new Y Berlin made with BYD blade batteries charges like 60% in 15 minutes or 300 km and fully charged 400 km in 30 minutes.

Did i miss if you have air suspension? I have a very similar car (with fewer miles), with air suspension. Always wondering if/when they may fall 😅

honestly, I think basic equipment is more than enough, to much expensive electrical stuff on new things that's gonna break sooner or later anyway. Like I don't mind electricals seats, but the back and forward adjusting should always be manual IMO, its much faster then electrical anyway, and seeing so many door handles fail on model S, I wish there was a mechanical handle instead, I mean they look cool though, but that's it

Don't waste your time hipermiling the battery. Go ahead and slap a 100 in it. Altho I think I read somewhere that only 90 will be possible because 100 batteries can only be fitted in those cars that were 100 from the factory dew to additional weight support in the cars structure.

What SC option does it have and, if applicable, was the transfer difficult? Thanks.

I read / hear nothing but bad things about electric cars. It’s nice to hear a mechanic/owner frankly discuss ownership of an electric car. We live in the country and drive long distances on a regular basis. I have researched the charging stations in our area and it’s pretty grim. Guess I’ll stick to gas for now.
