The USS Alabama (BB-60) is a retired battleship and the final ship of the South Dakota class. Commissioned during World War II, she served in the British Home Fleet and later in the Pacific against Japan. Post-war, Alabama participated in Operation Magic Carpet. Decommissioned in 1947, she became a museum ship in Mobile Bay, Alabama, showcasing her historic role and military contributions. Alabama had a length of 680 feet, a top speed of 27.5 knots, and extensive armor protection. Her main battery featured nine 16""/45 caliber guns, and she had a secondary battery with twenty 5-inch/38 caliber guns. The battleship underwent modifications during the war, including radar additions and increased anti-aircraft defenses."
