Join us for a relaxing stroll around Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens!

The site where the gardens lie, between the Old and New Towns, was once a loch called the Nor Loch. The Loch was created in the 1400s as a defence barrier for the towering castle above and during the 1800s it was drained and transformed into gardens during the Georgian improvements to the city.

The gardens offer a lush, green oasis from the city's hustle and bustle and is a great place to wander around, lie on the grass with a book or simply people watch.

In Spring and Summer months, there is a dazzling display of roses, tulips and other seasonal blooms. In November, the gardens are transformed into a charming Winter wonderland with the German-style Christmas Market.

In the gardens can be found the Walter Scott Monument, the National Gallery of Scotland, the impressive Floral Clock, Ross Fountain and the Ross Bandstand.

Nearby locations to explore include Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and the New Town.
