AI Understands Us

But we don't understand the entire process completely. But we understand a lot more about how the human brain functions than we did 30 years ago. And a lot of the stuff that we've seen that the human brain is capable of, we have now emulated in artificial intelligence. So things like having a world model, being able to use logic and reason, being able to understand the words that people are saying and actually understand the words that people are saying. And by understand, I mean able to interpret a problem well enough to describe it to you and solve it and talk about it in depth and actually make sense and be coherent.

Whether it makes sense or not is down to whether how well it was represented in the training data. AI knows language, it doesn't know logic. Some common human problems just happen to be very well expressable in words or images. Let's see it learn something new, like a human does. By actually engaging with the topic instead of repeating the same piece of text a billion times. Then I'll be impressed. For now, it's just a cool tech demo that won't scale and will never come close anywhere near true intelligence.
