I get that they wanted to prove a point of bigger isn’t always better, but you have to admit, (prior to the Light Ball and other shenanigans they added to Pikachu) being evolved made Raichu a much better Pokemon like most evolved Pokemon are.

Besides, I just love Raichu staying true to being a pudgy little buddy with a lightning bolt tail. Plus it’s orange, my favorite color.

I'm actually glad that Pikachu didn't evolve. He had some of the best clapbacks and proved his prowess without the need to become Raichu. Just because he's disadvantaged in some areas doesn't mean he can't wield any strengths, like Agility and overall battle experience. He proved that you don't have to follow the usual crowd (i.e. just evolve into a Raichu) to achieve his goals!

I disagree with this. Raichu appear like a dozen times in the anime and most of these encounters were friendly.

The worst part of that Ash VS Sho battle was not only how badly Pikachu got beaten, but how SHORT the whole thing was. When the entire battle takes a bit less than _two and a half minutes, _ and almost half of the battle is Raichu using the same moves at Pikachu (but obviously stronger), it's disheartening.

Why is Raichu better in the anime than in the games? 😭😭😭 I love Raichu but my dude doesn't have a gigantamax or a light ball. It can't even mega evolve. Justice for Raichu

At least Ash's Pikachu has a legitimate reason not to evolve. He actually showed he doesn't want to and he can't anyway thanks to gigantamax

Aside from Bulbasaur, all of ash's unevolved Pokemon had no legitimate reason for not evolving so they get no breaks from being criticised for it

In general, it's like the approach intent was to make Raichu the undergo evolution of Pikachu Which is why the anime did so much to make Pikachu relevant. I don't agree completely with this decision because of some fans who actually love Raichu, and they could have done better justice for it.
