Note: As of June 2019/ July 2019, the Wyze Cam integrates with Google Assistant. However, as of August 2020, you have to buy a Camp Plus subscription for $1.99 a month or $14.99 a year to get person detection. Also, the Arlo Pro 2 now works with Apple HomeKit. Nest has changed its cloud storage pricing. Now, 30 days costs $6 a month or $60 a year and 60 days costs $12 a month or $120 a year. Nest Secure has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase on the Google store, but existing systems will continue to function normallyIn this video, we’re bringing you the best security cameras of 2019, including the #NestCamIndoor, the #LogitechCircle2, the #TendSecureLynx, the #AmazonCloudCam, the #NetatmoWelcome, the #CanaryFlex, the #CanaryAllInOne, the #ArloPro2, and last but not least the #WyzeCam. We’ll go over their video, night vision, audio, and a ton of other awesome features.

In this video, I go over the best cameras of 2019, specifically the #NestCamIndoor, the #LogitechCircle2, the #TendSecureLynx, the #AmazonCloudCam, the #NetatmoWelcome, the #CanaryFlex, the #CanaryAllInOne, the #ArloPro2, and lastly the #WyzeCam. I’m looking for cameras with 1080p HD video display, fields of view at 120 degrees or above, and ideally the ability to zoom in optically for some great detail. As far as the audio goes, I prefer two-way audio, which allows the user to speak to the person they’re recording, and for night vision, I prefer infrared LED. Next, I’m looking for cameras with both cloud and local storage, so you can backup your footage in two ways.

Obviously, I would like my cameras to be integrated with smart home platforms, ideally Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, the two most popular. I like cameras with person detection, which leads to stronger, more specific notifications, and extra points if they have facial recognition. Finally, I’m looking for cameras that are easy to set up and that give you the most bang for your buck.

I appreciate Gabe and this channel a lot! I just discovered it and really wish I had months ago when I began researching the latest security options. Straightforward, thorough, and educational. Thanks!

New subscriber here. First off. Love the reviews. Quick question. How difficult would it be to hack these wireless cameras that store their data in cloud storage? I would prefer a complete wireless set up but I'm concerned about the cameras themselves being compromised through a hack. Any recommendations? Would love a 5 wireless camera setup with storage. Know of any packages?

Thx for the video! I’m in Haiti with limited electricity. I could maybe buy a solar panel just for the security system. What I need in a camera system:
1. Local storage of data
2. Continuous recording on a hard drive which can erase oldest data when drive gets full.
3. Simple set up
4. Ability to see what’s up thru my phone from anywhere in the world
5. Outdoor and indoor cameras.

I’m going to have 4 outdoor cameras and up to 8 indoor ones.

What would meet these criteria and still be economical?

Nest? WTF? No! No! No! I bought a two camera package and neither one has ever worked. The company support was NON-EXISTENT!

Gabe, I enjoy your presentation style, no fluff, well organized, and to the point. For such a broad scope, it might have been better to title this something like Intro to...and mentioning specific use cases where each particularly shine. I'm surprised you didn't mention SmartThings integration, or offer concerns about FB Messenger...my God, who'd let FB have visual access to their home! I know, personal choice! You seem to have a library of useful knowledge, so keep on sharing and I'll follow along

I just subscribed to your channel. Great reviews! But no mention of Blink in the 2019 list? I am kinda surprised since Amazon bought it and it's so popular.

I've been an owner of Arlo for two (2) years, ...I'm not sure I would recommend it. With Apologies to the video posted...arlo just tends to miss approaches. it speeds just lags and the "event" is almost over before it starts recording.

I'm usually a fan. I guess this video is a good starting point, but I think the details were too spread out. Also you didnt cover storage options on these videos. I'm struggling right now and broadening my research because many of these techie cameras have hiccups! They want monthly subscriptions and/or a limited number of cameras. Maybe I'll come back to these smart cameras but I'm not into monthly fees. I just want a solid camera solution and preferably one that works with Google Assistant or Amazon Echo.

Great channel..I am looking for an outdoor security camera that can be wired. I don’t want the wireless. Is the Logitech circle 2 or Canary Flex a wired outdoor security camera? Thank you

The WYZE cam is not appropriate for security applications. Here is a statement from a WYZE cam employee on their forum:

"People are cautioned not to rely on our product for security or important tasks because the combination of a short video with a 5 minute cooldown period makes it easy to lose the most important footage."

I'm concerned with how to power the camera for outside use. For me, option 1 is a mounted version (existing junciton box), option 2 is solar power. I can't use a plug, POE, or want to climb ladders to replace or recharge batteries. Based on your research, any suggestions? Reolink Argus Pro or Argus Eco with Solar panel feature? Maybe not 4k, but not required.

you need to look into the batteries of the arlo 2, bad reviews on them cos they are too costly, why not rechargeable batteries
