So, what about Boyfriend Dungeon, a roguelike dungeon crawler with various weapons, *that you romance?!* The weapons are also hot dudes outside of the dungeon, that you date.

The thing about Hatoful Boyfriend is that the pigeon dating is the least weird thing about it. There's a murderer, a pudding god, a fallen angel, a ghost, a spy, and a couple standard birds. But the story is just WILD and Hurtful Boyfriend is even more wild, which y'all referenced here.

The "Jurassic Heart " section needed a bit where Andy asks OutsideExtra's Luke, the resident expert on dinosaurs, for his opinion on the accuracy of the dinosaur and it's mating habits in the dating sim and a terrified, deeply-distressed Luke refuses to answer.

The fact that the KFC ad is the least weird thing on this list is a bit concerning for humanity.

Hatoful Boyfriend was a PS+ game at one point so I actually did go through it. I don't remember much of it, but having a murder mystery and fate of humanity tale definitely made it more memorable beyond the basic premise of dating birds.

The thing about Hatoful Boyfriend is that at least two of the birds you can date have committed genuinely horrendous crimes.

One of them is obvious… the other comes as like a genuine shock.

As someone who only just discovered the existence of Dungeon Nights, the Fear and Hunger dating sim, I gotta say I'm both relieved and disappointed that it's not here. Though it should definitely be on the follow-up list, because any game that lets you date a flayed dude named "Tormented One" is definitely one to remember.

I'm stunned that the Chthulhu-based dating sims weren't on this list. "Sucker for Love" got a sequel, amazingly.

The one that comes to mind for me is Namco High. One of the characters is literally the spaceship from Galaga. Also there's three Homestuck characters you can date because it was written by Andrew Hussie. It is the greatest thing.

I only picked up Hatoful Boyfriend because of how weird it was. But then only half of it was actually a weird dating sim, the other half was a truly enjoyable murder mystery during which I often completely forgot that it had started as a weird dating sim (and that I had actually been playing as a completely different and boring character before).
