It DOES work. Replace the blocks with platforms, put OFF any accessory except band of regen and you're fine. Took it down with Night's Edge and Bananarama.
Used it to kill Plantera as well although I used heart statues and potions for this one (you WILL get hit).

Mechduesa was the only boss on FTW that I could not beat without cheese, its a super tough boss at that progression

Man, terraria is so cool. I got into hardmode in my legendary playthrough but stopped after mechdusa kicked my ass. I’ve gotta get back into it and finally beat legendary mode 😎

I tried this many times, the mechanism works but they still damage you regardless so im not sure if this is patched or not (even with the fall damage applied)

Hello, I am a huge fan. I tried this strategy, but rather than being able to easily defeat Mechdusa, I found myself ejected from the map, and I noticed immediately upon regaining my whits that I was trapped in a dark facsimile of the ocean--mayhaps a "void sea"? If I shall jest, it seemed so--either way, I couldn't fathom my wherabouts, until I luckily stumbled upon a gargantuan platyhelminth of some kind, which immediately enclosed me in it's jaws and ended the game. Regardless of that, there is Now a strange "cutscene" playing, and my "Pee Sea" is on fire. Tips? (Please excuse my florid prose, I was extracted from the year of 1863 and my dream is to become a professional at the game of "Fortnight", although I still dearly miss Abraham Lincoln.
