The long wait for Indiana's death penalty

Eight men sit on death row at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. But Indiana has not executed anyone since Dec. 11, 2009. No executions are scheduled, despite four men having exhausted all appeals.

At the same time, prosecutors continue to seek the death penalty, especially in cases where police officers are shot and killed. Of Indiana's five pending death penalty cases, three involve police officers killed in the line of duty in the past three years.

Indiana officials need to talk with Texas officials and get this issue straightened out.

Eric Holmes, whom is the longest on death row, killed my husbands mother. I can’t tell you how many times he has been bothered by the fact that man still gets to breathe and his mother is gone. He was only 6 months old when Eric selfishly took her life. Never got the chance to know her…

My thing is this if Indiana is having trouble unlike other states in getting the chemicals for Lethal Injection don't you think that it is time to revisit the method of execution and select a new one?

Being a cop should not be a aggravating circumstance. There should be no difference between a cop and another victim. Smh

Why even have death penalty if they are going to wait 30 years to execute. It's horrible the victims families have to wait that long. It's appalling. Not only that but it's becoming a well known fact that if someone is on death row, they get better treatment. Bigger cells they don't have to share, safer it's quiet, they have their own special courtyard and form acquainted relationships with staff, since there's only about 6 prisoners on death row per state. There's men with life sentences that kill IN prison, just to be put on death row. Even when someone gets sentenced to death, the chances of them dying from natural causes is higher then them actually being put to death. It's bullshit. Once the appeals are all exhausted, its time to clear them out of death row.

Its not ok to kill any one. Not only police officers.

No sentence matters in Indiana. People do half their time no matter what, except when sentenced to death, and then they get extended stay.

You could round up some supplies in 13 years. How about Fentanyl?

The governments who say they can’t get drugs aren’t trying.

Did this governor really say they couldn't find the drugs for 30 years now?
