Even if you don’t like jazz, you have to admit that jazz musicians are some of the most insanely talented musicians on earth.

OMG! I actually once tried to transcribe exactly this groove a while ago. I think yours is more accurate and clean, it's pretty neat! Love your work!

This gets a lot easier if you conceptualize the 11/8 as 3+3+3+2 (I got this from the other transcription)...then, she’s basically keeping steady 8ths on the hats, and with the bass drum playing 2 against each group of 3
(so: 1 (2)AND (3), 1 (2)AND (3)...the “Carol of bells” rhythm).

So the backbone of what’s going on is just 3 groups of 2 against 3, then a group of two. You can even drop some Afro-Cuban 6/8 type stuff over those 3 against 2’s...conceiving of it this way made it much more accessible to me as a player (as a listener I just like to take it in!)

This has been a great tune for me to catch up on some newly popular rhythmic developments, I am really grateful for this and the other (zhao) transcription...once you have the decoder ring it starts to make a lot of sense and become fertile new ground for a guy like me who wasn’t taught this in music school (I’m old). Thanks for the incredible amount of effort y’all put in.

Good to see young people with that kind of skill even though I don't like jazz or Thelonious Monk style but they are skilled and deserve much credit ✅💯🏌️

Okay, I’m not a drummer, I’m a pianist, but I can tell you from learning much of this song, 11/8 really isn’t that bad. I have played much of the song up to tempo too. The trick is to just not think too hard about it and just settle into the groove.

This is so incredible! I started learning it today based on your transcription and I love it, by far the best one going around! Any chance you have the full chart? I would be so very very grateful :)

Seems I'm the only guy hearing this in 7/8 time, maybe because all I'm paying attention to is the bass. He's definitely playing every beat (and the last beat twice) like:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7and 1 2 3 4 5 6 7and...
I believe y'all hear it in 11/8 but I cannot reconcile the math.
