Society may look at it as a negative...but to be honest....it’s key factor in getting financially stable

Maybe this dude feels overwhelmed. Stay strong, single parenthood isn't easy.

In my culture it's perfectly natural to live with parents, or next door to them.. I'm Brazilian / Italian..

80k income with $1, 100 mortgage lol give me a break. You can't put a price on personal space and quality of life

Parents as a "safety net not a hammock" great illustration! My parents offered to let us stay with them when it wasn't an emergency and I felt like Dave. I wanted us to make it on our own...and we did.

The main reason I might consider moving in with the parents in this case, is for the kids. Do they have a house where the kids can play in the yard vs a condo? And when he has custody, does can his parents help watch the kids. Sometimes grandparents can be very beneficial for children.

That is a no brainer. Make the move. You can't profit from pride.

Doesn’t seem like he’s facing hard times, just wants an easy out to live with his parents. I’m surprised Dave was so chill about the whole thing honestly.

Less about his money situation, just my opinion, sounds a lil afraid of the newfound divorce/single life...poor thing 🤦🏽‍♀️ still I hope it works out for he and his children moving forward despite, outside of the fear, doesn’t sound like a bad guy. 🙏🏾

I’m about to do that temporarily to transition to my hometown. We’re having a baby and I want it to grow up there. So we’re gonna move in with my mom while we figure out our living situation lined up. Kinda like how he said his kids will move in until their situation is settled out. Wish us luck!

Honestly don’t think this has anything to do with money. I think he’s just scared of how things might be different now that he’s divorced.

This caller seems to be in good financial shape. And I would agree that returning home unless for extentuating circumstances would probably take a toll on one's self-esteem for sure. But, at the same time, I'm aware of people that returned home for similar reasons. And there are others who are in the 30s unapologetically living at home where they have the opportunity to save a lot of money (towards their home, etc).

I wish I could stay with my parents longer I would buy my house in cash no mortgage just property taxes.

For me, the problem with moving home is not a lot of opportunities where either of my parents live. Maybe it’s just my life but I’ve found better work in states like Colorado and California than I have in Oklahoma and Texas. Oil in Texas is good money but I know I would dread working in it.

Wish I could have lived with my parents...I've been a single parent a long time and I have always supported my kids and I. No help from ex and I never made 80K and no welfare...it's not easy, but it's definitely doable...

If your other choice is living in your car yes. If you can make it on your own and learn the value of hard work and independence, no.

Dating will be hard if he moves back home with his parents. Add that on top of being a single dad of two kids.
