That’s just how japanese showbiz works, people love transparency and love to see their idols improve on the way, kinda unlike kpop industry where fans prefers to see the perfect result (or at least almost perfect)

Most of the people who commented have clearly not watched the show and based everything on this clip which is quite baffling. They're pretty good singers, most people who auditioned have zero experience and only a bit of training so the fact that they can perform pretty decently is good. As the show progressed all of them really improved their skills, PD101 Japan is just built different compared to other survival shows because you get to see actual improvement and hidden powerhouses as the show continues. This season really has the best line-up, goodluck to ME:I!!

Idol would be SO difficult to dance AND sing at the same time.. it's already a difficult song, so dancing would make it harder- props to those girls. Oh my gosh.

Kokoro and momona really deserves to debut. That audition song they did is not an easy song to sing and dance. They were so stable.

Love that a Perfume song was used. They are the number 1 girl group in Japan. So glad I got to see them in the states

Momona and Kokoro’s IDOL performance has rly been sticking in my mind for weeks now! I didn’t expect to love it as much bcuz I’m personally not a big fan of the song (bcuz I felt like it wasn’t Yoasobi’s style of music 😅) but after watching the performance, I started loving and listening to this song a lot!

Currently my top 5 on the show are Ishii Ran, Kasahara Momona, Takami Ayane, Kenmotsu Nano and Nakano Kokona ❤

if u watched japanese concert or just music show in TV most singer will sing live without back track, they like honesty behind that, even in kohaku uta gassen u could heard which idol sing live and which one is lypsinc

After watching the show, I realized that majority of the girls from PD101 Japan have a lot of potentials. Heck I even thought that some of them have a huge possibility to be recruited by a company either in Japan or Korea to be trainees! I think this show was way better than R U Next, Universe Ticket, and Boys Planet combined. Also, I'm glad that Miu and Kokoro were able to debut (Kokoro especially because it's been a while she was a part of Cherry Bullet).

I read 101 on background then i went back to 2016 and then heard the song spicy to easpa so i said wait a minute this song was released this year 2023, whats going on,

that girl in the start whose not singing and just dancing reminds me so much of sana and the second girl reminded to me chaeyoung signal era i legit thought i missed a couple twice auditions maybe or something else

You know this is audition so they haven’t had proper training right? And lots of them sound better than K-pop idols at debut without backtracking. And before some of you come and say in Japan vocals are unimportant, listen to Vaundy or Ado etc. And Japanese K-pop idols actually tend to have a deeper natural range, eg momo. In sixteen she sang naturally and she was really good. Then the company forced her and other Japanese and just other idols to sing in a higher pitch to seem cuter which can completely ruin their vocal chords if they are straining themselves and their new techniques are underdeveloped
