On this channel I show you real people who lived on our planet many years ago. For fans of Anthropology and History. Today I'm going to tell you about....

The man's skeleton was found in 2008 during excavations in the Spanish city of Cadiz. About 3,000 years ago, the Phoenician settlement of Gadir, one of the oldest Phoenician settlements in Europe, arose here.

The man was conventionally dubbed "Valentine." He is about 30 years old and 177 cm tall. Valentine's death was gruesome: the man died in a fire, probably during one of the sieges of the city by the Carthaginians. It is believed that while trying to escape, Valentine jumped from a great height and broke his leg, was unable to escape and died from smoke inhalation. His body was left lying there and was never buried. 400 years later, the Romans, who were building a cistern here, damaged the skeleton but left it lying in the ground.

Experts determined that the man suffered from Arnold syndrome, a congenital anomaly of the skull that causes dizziness. He was probably deaf in one ear.

As a Phoenician hestorian may I correct you I m pretty sure he died in the Roman conquest of Spain or when the Phoenician setelment was attacked by the neighboring tribes because cartage is Phoenicians too and after the fall of Tyr all the Phoenicians statement and colonies looked at cartage for protection and trade ...you can even say it was built by cartage to open route to britsh ... And to prepare going to explore futher in the ocean to go to America

He was quite handsome. How do the scientists know what his ears were like? Dundee University reconstructed Richard III’s face after he was discovered under a car park in Leicester.

I'm glad they showed his reconstruction with dark skin and dreadlocks which was likely what he looked like especially being Ancient Phoenician.
