This is Ross again thank you so much for reading this. I was never perfect still not. And like I did say I do regret what I put the Op through. And don't worry I did learn from my mistakes and will continue to do so. Ross signing off. P.S. there is no way I can prove I am Ross but keep this in mind I didn't try to dispense hidden knowledge. I didn't try to excuse my attitude. What I did was wrong plain and simple.

Wow, that's rarer than a unicorn. A that guy who not only redeemed themselves, but also acknowledged that he screwed up and responded to stories in a rational manner. 🤨👍

Thanks for sharing my story.

Me and the DM just chatted the other day, and I showed him the photos of All of my books (all 28 hardcovers for Adventures, Campaign Settings and Rule Supplemental Material, and the 4 starter sets), he's like "You really need to start a group. You literally have all the resources to learn how to DM."

We'll see what happens.

Ross, terrific of you to come clean about your mistakes in the past. Don't beat yourself up over them to much though.

Here's a Glory Story that Rivals the Celestial Incident, in my opinion (For when you want another Glory Story Video.)

TLDR: A Snake's Deadly Dance with a Succubus

Due to 2020 being what it was, and the group's original DM, let's call him Vet (due to his 20 years of playing, and having served in the Marines), having moved, it was months before the group met up again. Eventually, we started meeting again, although I arrived slightly late to the Party, as it were.

This time, the DM was the guy who was Legally Blind (dude needed very bright light to see clearly), who we'll call LB. LB's campaign was set in a world where Dragons and Giants had fought a war, only for the overgrown lizards to be beaten. Thus, status was determined the Giant Way, by height. Also, if you were a reptile, you were one social class lower than those of the same size.

Starting off, the party (Level 5) was a Fire Genasi Wizard (Played by our One Armed player - OA), a Water Genasi Storm Sorcerer, and an Aarakocra dex-based Life Domain Cleric (who was the wizard's pet/slave - it was something the players had worked out). The two Genasi were on a quest to fulfill their Mentor's last request or something, involving an abandoned tomb. When I rejoined, along with my mother, I quickly realized a key detail - a distinct lack of a Tank. As previously mentioned, I had prior experience as a Fighter, but what I had forgot to mention was that I'd also had some experience playing as a Sorcerer during an LMoP campaign - funny enough, it was during that campaign that the Celestial incident occurred (Let's just say that Vet had been playing a Paladin during LMoP, while OA DMed, due to Vet having Writer's Block in their homebrewed story, and hopefully that fills in a few holes). Needless to say, having had a taste for Magic, I decided to go the Paladin route, with a Yuan-Ti Pureblood - Oath of Vengeance. My mother went Feral Tiefling Hunter Ranger, so that she could be both a back-up Tank and do distance damage. Thus, my mother's character, and mine were basically hired muscle. A little while later, a Mountain Dwarf Moon Druid (as played by the Aarakocra player's real-life brother) joined up, I guess checking out what was up with all the undead in the area.

One thing to note, my Yuan-Ti Paladin had, from a Random Loot Roll, a Periapt of Wound Closure (which my Fighter had also had, funny enough). Basically, it's a case of "He's stable, Jim." along with "Short Rests are Extra Refreshing."

Soon enough, we're at the temple, and due to real life reasons, only myself, the wizard, cleric, druid, and the DM show up to the session. Storywise, Sorcerer and Ranger watch from the front, while the rest of us explore the place - we deal with ghosts - I use up a lot of my Divine Smites, during which I get koed, only to come back - scare off last ghost, and party takes short rest. Then we deal with mummies. I heal up weakened cleric. Then we run into two ladies - Red and Black.

Red makes Cleric feel uncomfortable - as they had an unhealthy interest in the bird's feathers (and the player is getting stage fright) - so I place myself between them, so that they are facing someone who is more than a bit dangerous. Well, Red wanted a kiss - if you've read the title, you know why this is a bad idea, but my guy (and the rest) kept failing that insight check. My guy accepted the kiss, only to get knocked down to like 10 hp. They were Succubus, both of them. Worse than that, they get the better initiative rolls, and mind-control the wizard (and later the druid), causing us to fight our friends part of the time. Still, there's some epic moments - cleric (having taken flight - 20 feet of height) used a cloak of useful things to drop a rowboat and a camel on the pair, pinning Red at one point - but my guy was seriously focused on Red, comparing our respective blows to kisses and such.

Red manages to knock me out. Cleric revives me. I use up my last Divine Smite (Level 2) on Red. Red didn't like me after that, but misses their attack on me. Cleric drops a camel on her. My guy goes after Black. Druid manages to free the wizard from mind-control. Black manages to knock me out. Red mind-controls the druid, gets him to free her. Cleric revives me, and I see that the druid is not himself, so I go to slap him. Miss. He hits me - down I go again, and it's at this point we have to check the rules on Death, and looks like I'm still alive - we also had needed to check up on the periapt and what it does. Cleric soon goes down - literally - and the wizard is the only one left free/conscious. Druid has gone crocodile, and tries to eat the wizard. Luckily, wizard managed to zap some sense back into the druid, before Red and Black take him out.

It's then that the Cleric rolls a Nat20 on her Death Save, gets up, uses her cloak to summon two mastiffs, and used Mass Cure Wounds, reviving me and the wizard. Now, we were badly bloodied, but so were Red and Black. I engaged Red in Combat once more, going "Yo! She-B! Let's Dance!" Finally, I put in the last blow, and go "How do you like me now?" As she fades away, Red's like "I hate you!" As for Black, outnumbered 6 to 1, she vanished herself.

After this, we investigate a large green gem that had been reducing the effectiveness of healing spells. When the cleric's attempts to use divine powers failed, due to missing the DC number, my guy and the druid, both being the strongest in the party, decide to smash it. On our second attempt, we both rolled Nat20s, smashing it into pieces. This freed a Firbolg spirit that had been trapped. Spirit thanked us, and moved on. We hit Level 6.

But, issues came up, and LB couldn't make it to the games after this.

Oh it’s Ross in the first glory story! And don’t worry Ross, if you see this I don’t hate OP there (or you by proxy). His attitude was horrendous but he has his moments where he’s decent. (RPGtales Fallen Hero kinda helped tone down the hate a bit).

All and all, I’m glad you’re doing better after all that. And I’m glad you learned from your mistakes. Hopefully OP will get better too.

Honestly, I love it when someone does something wrong, admits to their mistakes, and works hard to change themselves for the better. For me, I was veering into “that guy” territory, but with the DM I got held me responsible while avoiding making me feel singled out, and that was enough to make me change my behaviour for the better.

OMFG That Ross update. I listened to those Ross Saga stories and thought he was a selfish idiot, but he's so thoughtful and eloquent. And he has humble gratitude toward a guy, the OP of those stories, who was kind of a conditional friend. What a fuckin' twist, Ross is a role model for a well-adjusted happy person. I'm so moved right now.

Story 1- Sometimes the hero makes the best villain- BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Story 2- If the only restriction is that it has to be officially licensed then that DM is far more lenient than most featured on this channel- would be great to hear a few stories of him in action
Story 3- I'd hate to go against this group in GTA Online

Just finished Ross update and if the poster was who they said they were (I am always worried when online) I am really happy to read this. Not only have they found their place but their mature response is just…. Refreshing? Idk, trying to think of best way to say it but definitely was awesome insight and actualization, something I think a lot of OPs in these stories actually lack. Wish you the best, sir, if you happen to be scanning comments x x

People complain about the celestial warlock, but have you ever seen the 3.X True Necromancer? You end up having the casting abilities of both a 15th level wizard and a 15th level cleric. No ninth level spells, but who cares at that point.

holy shit, whoda thunk i'd be tuning into a ross redemption arc.

I mean, ross is still a butt, but this was a respectful action from him.
