Alonso started off by suggesting that Lewis Hamilton’s supposed weaknesses are being exposed by the 2023 Mercedes car
“With a normal car, you can see that he has weaknesses”
“Before, he drove alone or sometimes with his teammate. But look, he is the record holder for poles and George Russell has just given him a [now 3-0] in qualifying this season”
“It just goes to show how much the car is still a key factor”
He then responded to Hamilton’s suggestion that the current Red Bull is the fastest F1 car he has seen
“I don’t agree at all”
“Last week I finished 20 seconds behind Checo and Max. Hamilton and [Nico] Rosberg were a minute ahead in 2014 and 2015”
Alonso signed off by cracking a joke at Hamilton’s expense
“He has a short memory... he’s getting old!”

"But also the new generation are more aggressive in asking for something different. The sport is evolving”
“If we don't realise that, it's a mistake. That's why we have to be on the front foot to understand what the fans want”
Red Bull’s reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo explained that “having the chance to step back and just review everything from afar,” [The Athletic]
“And with the luxury of time as well, not to be forced to make a decision or rush anything,”
“I feel that if I’m to get back on the grid, I honestly believe I’ll be a better version of myself”
