English is not a phonetic language like Spanish where you read what’s there in the paper. English is more like a ethimological language where you read the history of the word, rather than the word itself.

This is exactly why I got SO frustrated when I was trying to get help writing a word as a kid and teachers/parents would ALWAYS say “just sound it out!” cause for so many words it just doesn’t work that way 😭

Because English copies words from other languages where it makes sense and the words weren't all copied from the same language also the Romans changed English's alphabet to the Latin one which English was not designed for the Latin Alphabet it was designed for the Anglo-Saxon futhorc runic Alphabet
