Have you read Dan Cleather’s book “Force”? He argues (quite convincingly) that most athletic movements are better described by the impulse-momentum relationship than with power.

so true. a more powerful muscle will produce more power... it doesn't matter how it got powerful. it's a simple concept honestly.

To me it's incomprehensible that your channel only has 11k subscribers, I've been going through all your videos and applying it in my training. The wealth of information you provide for free is nothing short of amazing, most youtubers would only provide this informaton to paying clients. Such a shame Youtube fitness mostly just revolves around attention and has basically became just another joke in our bizarre timeline.

I am glad you brought up (Oly) weightlifting since that is a good example of how clueless they are. It was (maybe still is technically) a track and field event. The idea is you are *throwing* the weight over your head. Zach Telander even said the shot put is weightliftings brother sport

Yeah I definitely agree that power is a general quality. Even like something with boxing or mma, I noticed that the more powerful athletes are stronger and faster. There are even examples of guys starting late and striking harder than others who have trained their whole lives because they come from power sports like football or basketball. Anyway, good channel bro 👍

Have you read or familiar with the teachings of Doug Hepburn's routines.

What's your opinion on front rack bulgarian split squats as a front squat accessory?

I think you make good points, and im a huge fan although i still think power for pitching velocity is plane specific to an extent.
Eric cressey cited a study back in a 2012 article i had read a couple years ago that i just went back and looked up. the study was trying to see if there was a correlation between lateral jumps that are a crude simulation of the stride in a pitcher and throwing velocity and it did conclude with a correlation there which lead me to believe to an extent that there is some plane specific power from that.
Would love to hear thoughts. Cressey also had some anecdotal evidence himself for his reasoning that seemed well minded to consider.
Ill leave a citation to the study here:
Lehman G, Drinkwater EJ, Behm DG. Correlation of throwing velocity to the results of lower-body field tests in male college baseball players. J Strength Cond Res. 2013 Apr;27(4):902-8. doi: 10.1519/JSC.0b013e3182606c79. PMID: 22706576.

Maybe I'm being an alarmist but I feel like doing too much of some of those exercises shown could mess up throwing mechanics?
