The ONEWHEEL ALTERNATIVE we've been waiting for?

Показать описание
This is NOT a Onewheel. It's called a Trotter Magwheel T3 and it's an electric skateboard with one wheel. While it looks like a Onewheel XR and is meant to be ridden like a Onewheel XR or Onewheel Pint, it is very different from the Onewheels made by Future Motion and we hope to show you that in this video.

That comment by Wren at the end is why FM should be nervous. E.g. the floatwheel is a fully open platform, so it's catching up quickly. Once the software is figured out there's not much to stop trotter and others taking advantage of it and adding the extra power that the market wants. Good to see you showing the options are out there. Hope to see another collab with Mario sometime so maybe you can compare the floatwheel as well.

Finally someone to compete. Eventually cheaper prices, more features, higher speeds, longer rides. This is how you create a better company

The OneWheel XR has been around for three years with an asking base price of $1, 799 without any significant updates. This is unusual in the realm of motorized products and was one of the reasons potential buyers were hesitant in buying one in 2021. Future Motion should divert their legal budget in suing other companies and improve their product in a timely manner. Despite the number of shortcomings, Magwheel entering this specific market should shake things up.

Come on FM, the average 14 miles range on the XR is ridiculous. Range anxiety is a real thing.

Jimmy is attempting to mount this thing the same way he mounts the Onewheel, having the back side on the ground and the front side up. This works fine for the Onewheel because the sensors are on the front and as you mount and put presure on the front, it moves forward. The T3 has sensors in both the front and back and mounting the back foot first causes it to go on reverse as it engages. The best way to mount this T3 is opposite to the Onewheel, mounting the front foot first and then the back foot, this way it will always move forward when you mount. It takes time to get used to it, especially if you've been riding a Onewheel for a while.

I have one of the first Magwheels in the states. I'm on the first controller and agree about the jerkiness, etc. I'm not an amazing rider, but I'm solid on trails with my Pint. Joe from IE rode my Mag on trails with me because I thought my Mag was broke. I couldn't keep up with him. The Mag takes different muscle memory and coming from a OW is a disadvantage if you try to go to a Mag. FM does have a secret sauce that makes their boards super smooth and I prefer them (because I need that compensation) but if the new Mag controllers catch up the Trotters are gonna be good competition for FM.

I have a trotter and not a onewheel. The best way I've found to mount the trotter is to put the back foot on, and then use your front foot to give the board a little shove forward (as opposed to pushing down on the footpad like you do on a onewheel). Aim to push the board and your body 3-6" forward with the shove, and put your body weight into it. It will take this forward motion and use it to balance as it levels out. Doing that makes the mounting process MUCH smoother.

Love the fact you found someone fair to judge that isn't biased yet

I swear that's Wren's voice at the end... fun to hear his reaction! Cool that he got to explain what keeps Future Motion ahead, that's totally his kind of thing to explain.

Is this worth revisiting now comparing how the trotter is doing with it's business practices versus Future Motion?

I always like competition! Although I don't think this is it just yet... But I'm curious, is this one as good as OneWheel's original model, or does it fall behind that one too?

There is nothing like the feeling of a OneWheel. Especially my beloved XR.

Thanks for the video. I live in Bentonville AR and last weekend saw so many One Wheel riders for the first time. Interesting device and this video helped me understand how it works. :)

I hate future motion as a company and honestly hope they go under at this point.

Any competition is greatly appreciated.

Best Onewheel alternative is an EUC. Farrrr more power, range, comfort, speed, and terrain capability than the Onewheel could ever dream of. All for about the same amount of money. When I made the switch from Onewheel my options were upgrade to the XR for $1, 800 to go 18 miles or switch to euc for $2, 200 and go 70-90 miles plus all the extra mentioned above. The choice was simple but I would like for Future Motion to produce an euc! I think they’d make a terrific one.

I use to have the older model trotter and upgraded to the pint but I have the inverse view, the trotter did like to start by reversing until I adjusted the level by holding the power but in motion it felt rock solid and responsive, the only issue I had was that the waterproofing was non existent so blew up a couple of controllers so decided to get the pint which was twice the price and learning to start the pint without it rushing off and burning it's tire because of the lack of a back sensor took a lot to get use too, I feel the trotter I got which was only £500 is a good starting board for those that want to test if it is for them but then upgrade if they like it, the pint I feel is a danger to people starting out as it is much harder to learn if you don't have someone to help but the pint is a more enjoyable ride
