Native Americans Want Washington Redskins Name Back

The R-word is bad, isn’t it? What R-word you might ask? In Australia, up until recently, supermarkets sold a brand of lolly, a raspberry-flavoured sweet, called Allen’s Red Skins. This is actually a screenshot of the current Woolworths website (link below). My children still call them Red Skins and my daughter’s only 8 years old. It’s because the name only changed very recently, and good luck getting kids to change what they call things.

In November 2020, less than three years ago, the Nestle company in order to avoid marginalising people rebranded Red Skins to Red Ripper. Unfortunately for Nestle, the largest food company in the world, they hadn’t heard of Google three years ago and failed to realise that Red Ripper was the nickname of Soviet serial killer Andrei Chikatilo. Consequently, they renamed the brand again to the current incarnation of Red Ripperz with a ‘z’. To me, that just sounds like the plural form of the Russian mass-murderer.

Also in 2020, the Washington Redskins, an American Football team, were deemed the Washington Racists by some, and were essentially forced to change their name. This is despite the left-leaning Washington Post finding that 90% of Native Americans were not offended by the Redskins name, at least, not in 2016. The team are currently known as the Washington Commanders with a giant W as a logo.

However, the controversy is still not over. The Native American Guardian’s Association, NAGA, who “celebrates and promotes the rich history, legacies, and many national contributions of First Nation’s people which have historically been woven into the fabric of American identity”, as per their website, well, they do not agree with the mainstream narrative on this one. They state, “Misconception: Redskins / Redmen is Racist. Redskins is a Native American iconic name and is revered by the vast majority of Native Americans and general public alike. Redskins represents honour, respect and pride for Native American culture. Redskins is and has been a self-identifying term for Natives since the early 1800s.”

As NAGA say on their website, “Educate NOT Eradicate”. They “advocate for increased education about Native Americans, especially in public educational institutions, and greater recognition of Native American Heritage through high profile venues of sports and other public platforms”.

So what do you think? Should we honour Native Americans wishes, or should we continue full steam ahead with cancelling things we deem offensive, even if the offendees aren’t even offended?

Almost every Army helo:
Apache, Black Hawk, Chinook, Kiowa, Lakota, Creek, Cayuse, Huron, and Ute. All Native American tribes and currently used Army aircraft.

There are also several retired aircraft with tribal names. The Iroquois, Choctaw, Seminole, Shawnee, Mohawk, and Mescalero helicopters and planes have been retired between 1967 and 2011.

Drop a Tomahawk
Something else with a Native American name? The Tomahawk cruise missile! The Algonquian tribe, located in Virginia, used this battle ax when fighting both other Native peoples and European settlers.

These names haven't even been suggested for change, interesting 🤔

Same thing happened with a cheese a while ago. Name started with "C" and ended with "n", if I recall correctly. Can't remember what is called now.

In the US one gives a Native American name to something that is meant to be BAD ASSED. It's an honorific, Not a slur. Could one imagine a football game between the Seattle Soy Boys VS the Washington Redskins being anything OTHER than a blowout won by the Redskins?!? No one names a sports team after what people thinks or people that are unimpressive.

As an addendum, they will always be the Redskins to me, and when I visited Washington DC in 2011 for the purpose of going to Redskins games, and was hosted by the Officail Redskins Historian (Mike Richman), and was invited onto a local TV channel to discuss Redskins football from an Australian perspective, they are, we are, Redskins. And I will always honour the Native American tribes.

These people: "Stop calling Native Americans 'red skins'! It's offensive!"
Also these people: "Native Americans are called 'red skins' so you can't name your product that! It's offensive!"

Make up your mind, people. Which is it?

I was asked if I could pick a year in history to live in for the rest of my life I say 1999 because this era of society has to be the worst I have experienced in my lifetime.

Sadly, these self imposed virtue signalers are too busy trying to save the ant on the railway track to see the train coming. The vanity of life.

Hey Mate, i remember when you used to talk about your property search and property prices. Would love to hear a follow up and also you used to talk about ETF's. Your thoughts on how your ETF's are going vs investing in property.

I think it's ok to recover the name redskins, or try something else like "REDMEN" because at one time when I was a child my dad chewed the tobacco "REDMAN" brand and it had a head of and indigenous man from America, also I read the "DEAD SEA SCROLLS" AND THE "URANTIA BOOK" where JESUS visited every tribe of people on the other side of the world while preaching the gospel to many, just before he was put on the cross to die he said he was coming to our continent TURTLE ISLAND /NOW KNOWN AS AMERICA TO VISIT THE REDMEN, strange because the story goes that he did visit the people of turtle Island/america after his death on the cross being transformed into the HOLY SPIRIT, he came to bring PEACE TO OUR PEOPLE, to establish Sovereignty and some tribes call themselves sovereign or self governed, I'm Choctaw through my daddy's family and they knew the story of his coming here and returning on the end times, we are all the descendents of lamen, and his brothers out of the book of Mormon "the LATTER DAY SAINTS" that support the story of the plates of lineage that were stolen from "LABAN" in the old testament who GOD told these brothers to steal these plates of lineage and murder " LABAN" for what ever reason for all this they were commanded to do this and hide the plates when they reached this land, as "JESUS said he was coming to visit the REDMEN and it makes good sense that JESUS wanted to visit every tribe of people to understand them and bring them the good news they every knee shall bow before GOD and have a chance to be redeemed entering heaven, even the REDMEN of turtle Island call GOD'S NAME IN Their OWN LANGUAGE "THE GREAT SPIRIT" and you must travel the "RED ROAD " which is a SPIRITUAL PATH BACK TO THE "CREATOR".REDMAN OR REDMEN MANY and we have suffered the same HOLOCAUST as the JEWS why should we want to not be called what. JESUS called us? all the color comes from the earth colors as there is a story about how we got our color, but not everyone is one color but we come in shades all bleeding the same color red, and wasn't esau born red when Jacob held his foot by the heel and when they were born, later fighting each other, they parted and came into different lands the GOD BLESSED THEM BOTH, the descendents of Esau were the Edomites and were in conflict with the Israelites, and probably the same as the Palestinians who are fighting Israel OVER LAND AS TWO BROTHERS FIGHT OVER INHERITANCE, IF THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING ITS GOING ON FOR A WHILE SINCE THE OLD TESTAMENT, Genesis 25, explains this, soo why can't this be the people of Esau, who was born red? and GOD BLESSED THEM AND MADE THEM A ACE OF THIER OWN TO LIVE HERE ON TURTLE ISLAND/ AKA AMERICA.
