Diver Propulsion Vehicle vs Deep Wreck Diver

Join me as a share another Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) technical diving story. This time I stupidly take an underwater scooter well beyond it's published depth rating with disastrous and expensive, if not entirely unpredictable, consequences!

In this podcast I also talk about the importance of depth ratings on equipment and several incidents where expensive equipment lost on dives has turned up in expected place

Cool...two of my favorite YouTubers on the same Q&A... Cant wait! Although this is a very expensive hobby, you go into it knowing you're going to loose things or break things.... At least thats how I look at it. With that said, I have also found a couple of items while diving as well, so maybe it evens out in the wash? Probably not, but hey, it sounded good! Great great stories. The Floridian Cave diving scene always made me incredibly jealous that I was UK based. Your videos have really opened my eyes to some of the superb diving we have around our coastline. The Floridian cave diving scene got me excited about diving again (giving me a goal) however I think my new goal is going to be UK based wreck diving. All thanks to you! Still moving my way through training. But the end goal has always been to dive a breather.

I left the charging port plug to my Triton on the dining room table. Only realised when the HUD stopped flashing and the secondary handset was dead.

Only in a quarry though, so nice fresh water and nothing that an allen key and dehumidifier couldn’t fix.

An interesting thing about ratings in any industry is the fact that they have built-in safety margins. So it would be nice to know just what those margins are.

Yes, I have heard that the bends can be reversed by a spell in one of those decompression bells. Byford Dolphin probably gives you nightmares fella.

I’m quite the opposite of you, don’t do excessively deep diving but „longer“ penetrations in caves. So strong DPV is on top of my priority list. Like to hear how much punishment a suex can handle.😅 I really love my XK1, it’s such a robust piece of equipment. ❤
Don’t want to be too smart, but scooter buoyancy slightly positiv is kinda one of the basics in DPV class and not even in deep open water.
When I rent a scooter and add a boltsnap I remove the same amount of wheight from the nose.

Im quite sure I read a story about a scooter imploding at depth and dragging a diver down to his death before he could get it unclipped. In a French cave possibly. Clearly bad unexpected things can happen beyond depth ratings.
