On January 26, 1987, WAEB-FM Allentown switched to a Contemporary Hit Radio format and became “The New Laser 104.1 WAEB-FM". The station said they ditched all the records, and were playing mostly Compact Disks, thus the "Laser" name.

In 1991, WAEB-FM rebranded itself again, this time to "The New B104 FM". B104 had become one of the dominant stations in the Lehigh Valley.

Feel free to check out some of the many other videos on the Ellis B Feaster's Radio Channel! Established in 2008!

One of You Tube's oldest RADIO AIRCHECK MUSEUM with a NEW VIDEO posted daily at 3PM EST.

After over 40 years working on the radio, I have recorded lots of radio airchecks, and many from my friends as well.

You'll find audio of many radio personalities who have passed away. Lots radio recordings from the 1940s, through the 2010.

We also talk about radio broadcasting. If you happen to have classic airchecks, maybe even of yourself on the air, we'd love to share it here!

lived in the lehigh valley my whole life and never ever listened to the allentown stations, only the philly ones. They always seem to have a much smaller, A-side only playlist compared to the philly stations but its always cool to hear the local stuff from years ago. Would love to see more

Thanks for posting this, Ellis. Max was literally ill from being "frozen alive"...I would not recommend repeating that promotion...lol! What a talent he was. He wrote break ideas out on a scrap a paper and effortlessly rhymed up to the post. He went to a Country station in Idaho and I lost track with him. Don't know about that Brian Steele guy, though, haha.

In the 60s WAEB-AM 790 was a great top 40 station with PAMS jingles. No airchecks of WAEB-AM as a rocker seem to exist ANYwhere! I had a cassette of WSAN as a top 40 station around 1970.

Now THIS is ultra high energy in overdrive! Good sound. In the 80s I worked just outside the Allentown market in Blairstown NJ.

I live a mile from that station, which also houses 95.1 WZZO and 790 WAEB.

Here's some radio math:
George McFly + Alan Kabel = Mad Max
