In this video tutorial, I have discussed how to design Load Frequency Control of Thermal/Hydro Power Plant Using Transfer Functions in Matlab/Simulink Software.
For this purpose, I have considered an example from the Book Power System Analysis by Hadi Sadat, Chapter 12, Example 12.1.
I have discussed how to measure the frequency variations due to load variations. How to measure frequency in Hertz, load power in per unit, in MW. I have discussed how to use PID controller in order to bring back the frequency to its original value after subjected to sudden load variation.
In the end, I have discussed how this model can be used for Bachelor degree final year projects, or can be used for the fulfillment of one or two research objectives in Master and PhD degrees.
