Energy is a Public Service

Energy is a public service that is fundamental for realising rights, particularly economic, social and cultural rights. Energy is behind all of the services that allow us to realise, for instance, the right to education, the to right to health, the right to food, and more comprehensively think about economies that are not only based on rights but that are also sustainable and that can realise the rights of present and future generations. If we do not move towards energy systems that are decarbonised and that are accessible for everyone, all of these fundamental rights can not be achieved, and models that are sustainable and just can not be conceived.
