Yup I witnessed this in my home. The dad turned out to be Mommy's best helper. He would go in the room once they were about 6 weeks and would let them jump all over him. He played with them so gently. Mommy would be able to take a break it was so beautiful to watch.

For anyone wondering, papa’s looking at the babies like that cause he’s excited and really wants to smell and greet them but he knows mama will bite the hell out of him and throw hands if he does. Mother dogs are incredibly protective of their babies and usually only let their bonded owners touch them- and even then it needs to be an incredibly strong bond with a dog that’s not super independent.

This mama’s probably bonded well with her person considering they’re sitting in the whelping pen with her and mama dog’s not eyeing the person at all.

Momma dogs are very protective over their puppies. I think the dad is very curious but is being very careful. I think he's such a good boy for being so considerate.
