About Shazam:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard (Djimon Hounsou). Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. This was the best scene in the whole movie. For me, they went really to fast with the whole Shazam Family. I would have like to see a proper one on one face off against Black Adam, especially the way the wizard talk about his mistake.

I think the old wizard was referring to black adam when he said "long ago, we choose a champion but we choose recklessly, he used his power for revenge"

I just now realized that the wizard chose Billy out of instinct, it feels like he chose people based on if they could hear the seven deadly sins but now that the sins are gone, he had to make the decision based on a hunch
Of course I could be mistaken so you should take my theory with a grain of salt and just as food for thought
