You left out the simplest fix of all - with the headphones plugged in - Go to Settings : Sound and turn up the Media Volume. There is one setting for playing without headphones, and when you plug headphones in, the sound settings are now for the headphones.

I never used to have this problem, until recently. I use them via USB-C adapter and it always worked, until now. At first, restarting helped but that no longer works.

I've tried changing USB Audio Routing, I've tried turning on something about HBD (I don't remember what it was), clearing the Cache Partition, inserting it slowly, inserting it quicky.

It is just stopping recognising them, for no reason. They work fine on every other device.

None of the tips work, found a solution somewhere else. Settings > Developer Options > Disable USB Audio Routine (in Media Section) > Turn off Disable USB Audio > Unplug earphones and plug in again.

If you cannot see developer options you need to allow it
