So... I still don't get it. Why would someone make a website to learn ES6.io but not es7?? Like are these just "patches" that go into the JavaScript language as a whole? How do I know if my editor has the latest JavaScript?? Can I just write a arrow function and it'll know? Am I overthinking this?

Any particular reason why you tell that it is better to stay ahead of ES and learning the new stuff within it, but you provide links to learn ES6 (2015), although ES8 has been established? I see the same thing on Babel web page.
And this kinda confuses me... it makes me think that ES5 is like Magento - how v1 and v2 is so differently used and both are quite independent.

Is your explanation correct? Javascript came first, but it needed a language standards body for its future development and ECMA took up that role, and so ECMAScript is the specification of javascript so developers of engines etc can be standards compliant and it remains open etc. It's not accurate to say Javascript 'came out of' ECMA.
