Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn – Teaser Trailer | PS4

Slated for release in March 2019, EPISODE ARDYN offers players a chance to step into the role of FINAL FANTASY XV’s main antagonist. Set before the events of FINAL FANTASY XV, players will learn more about Ardyn’s backstory in a story of death and restoration.

Really glad this is the DLC that pulled through, Ardyn is essentially what gave FFXV life and honestly one, if not the best 'villain' Final Fantasy has had.

I don't know why, but it kinda makes me sad, that Tabata left SE. Not because of the cancelled DLCs, but I think he didn't get the appreciation for FFXV he deserved. Yah, it wasn't perfect, probably far from it, but he did his best to complete a game that was doomed. He probably won't read this, but I want to say thank you for this journey.

Looking back on this, I can't really say I'm surprised by 3 of the four DLC episodes being cancelled, since I felt FFXV overall could have been handled a lot better than what fans were given. Yeah, there are time restraints, budgets, and other projects. Seeing this game come out like this was one of my major fears, given that after it was announced, gamers had to wait a decade for it's release, with it being placed on the back burner during most of this time. And that's on top of Square dishing out 3 Final Fantasy games. Noctis, Prompto, Ignis, and Gladiolus could have had their episode incorporated into the game to better do their backstory, see them grow as characters, and overall see them bond better. Ardyn, I felt his episode could have been put into the game, since, to me, he felt similar to Kefka, but his overall character seemed unsure. Lunafreya, wasn't really there, despite being tagged as the heroine of the game. Aranea's episode is the only one I was looking forward to, despite being more of a secondary character. And though I give Tabata points for doing what he could with FFXV, I kind of felt that it was just dropped on his lap. Hopefully things go well with him starting his own company.

I want to hear that excellent English VA voicing Ardyn again. Because he fits to a T the character. With news of cancellation of the last 3 DLCs, I hope that at least Episode ARDYN finishes off XV with a bang. And then we can start looking forward for FF16 (because face it, the show's going to go on and a new numbered game is on its way).

The news of the cancellation of the other 3 planned DLCs makes this release extremely heartbreaking. FFXV had so much potential and I was so hyped for Dawn Of The Future and Season 2! Why do you always have to break my heart Square!?!?

Major respect for Tabata for picking up the pieces of a wreck like Vs13 and doing his best to put it together into something for the fans.
