I think it's a mix of things. Over the last year, it's been pretty apparent that James had started to appear less and less. When he did show up in videos, you could tell he was rapidly losing weight and he looked like he wasn't sleeping well. At first I thought it may be a substance abuse problem but the more info we got about the channel, I'm starting to think a lot of that was just stress. Jerimiah was probably my favorite host and I'm glad to see him and Zach continuing to do what they love and taking it back to the old "guys working on cars in their garage" type content. Seems to be making them really happy.

I feel like ever since the corporate takeover, I can’t relate to many of the videos anymore. With Hi-low I can relate to it cause on low car and some parts on Hi car I can actually obtain them in due time. Now it’s slapping 50k into a $500 car which is just something I can’t relate too and if I wanna see YouTubers spend that much money I’d watch Matt Armstrong or Tavarish cause their videos still have passion and a vibe that you just don’t get from Donut even though those builds are way outta my budget

Donut has gone down hill for a few years in my opinion, for the last few years I listend to the pod cast every week and watch a video once a nore or so. Since the start of year its hard to do either, especially with jame not on the pod its nit the same.

I have it on good authority from a close personal friend close to the Donut clan that the big issue with Pumphrey is that he is insistent on inserting social justice messages in the videos and has repeatedly attacked heroes such as Evel Kenevel and Carol Shelby for their past behavior. The company contends that viewers are watching for car content not social commentary. When Pumphrey says the channel aims to be "inclusive" He means the political version not that they simply want to appeal to all car cultures.
