Synthfest UK 22: MORTRIX - SmartMIDI Foot Controller

Morten Mortensen introduced us to MORTRIX (previously MIDIum), a brand new Midi foot controller.

Sporting a large touch screen for editing and setup of scenes for presets and other functions, it has a large library of hardware configurations, with envelopes and LFOs aplenty for deep real time control of every parameter. Round the back it has MIDI on 5 pin DIN, and mini TRS, two USB host inputs and Wifi and ethernet connectivity, with RTP support coming soon. Don’t step on your tablet, step on this!

This is a total gamechanger! a large part of what puts me of controlling pedals with midi is remembering CC values. with pre-installed "pedal specific" profiles it makes programming a breeze. Outstanding

Offline editor is a good question. So essentially a version of this device on your phone, .computer, laptop, tablet and the user can have their profile and engage with the pedal and have the changes waiting for them at the controller. Because the Midium has WiFi. It will be able to SYNC.

Its not totally necessary. Maybe it would be a good idea to relieve the Midium of wear and tare. If anything, that would be valuable to me.

The UI menu system (dropdown) is awful. The LFO one is big and clear tho. Id say the the UI needs an overhaul to have more continuity. I also find the step-buttons above the screen cumbersome/masking the view.
