Rep. Jim Banks lamented on the House floor that House Speaker Pelosi prevented him from serving on the House committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, and yet Banks sent a letter to at least one government agency falsely claiming that he is ranking member of the committee in his signature. Fellow Republican Liz Cheney called him out for his actions as the House began debate on the criminal contempt referral of Steve Bannon for evading a subpoena. #CNN #News

Remove him from all committees and refer to DOJ for prosecution.

Why don’t fraud and lying qualify Banks for prosecution??
Our justice system is broken.
He should go to prison.

He needs to be held accountable and should resign now.

Falsely claiming to be a particular kind of Federal Officer, and he should be arrested and charged for it. THIS IS A CRIME.

This should be considered as an illegal act by Banks. There should be some charges brought up against him for this.

wouldn't what Banks is doing be considered impersonating and subject to criminal charges? I can't go into a place and act like a police officer to gather private information.

You can't have people who are complicit in a crime being on a committee to investigate the crime. Durh

Never in a million years did I ever think I'd be giving a staunch conservative, with an opposing ideology, like Liz Cheney an "Oh, hell yeah!!!" but yet, here we are. So good job Liz!!!

Banks is so desperate! It’s clearly obvious he’s terrified of what will be revealed. These clowns truly think they’re above the law and can do whatever the want. It’s far past time for them to be held accountable. The entire party should.

Sounds like the exact reason Ms Cheney should be re-elected. Voters that oppose truth tellers want to be lied to, and that is not rational.

Sounds like Banks committed the crime of fraud in writing this letter.

You don't put suspects in charge of an investigation. The fact they complain publicly is ludicrously corrupt.

Those letters alone should be enough grounds to remove him from Congress.

He should be taking off all his committees or sent home! Republicans are just gross but thank GOD their are a few decent republicans like Liz Chaney

I would like that low life Banks explain how Bannon, as a private citizen, can seek the cover of executive privilege. If anything, he just made the case why he should be prosecuted.

"Nothing to see here, move along..." I think the congressman of Indiana needs to be looked at a little closer.

Banks couldn't have been "kicked off" the investigative committee as he was never seated on it. 'Kicked off' sends a false message, suggesting he was 'on.' There are folks who will accept the inaccurate implication Banks actually was a committee member, giving them a reason to get angry, to justify unfounded suspicions.
Words have implications and should be carefully used.

"Steve Bannon was a private citizen before, after, and during Jan 6th"
Oh really? Good, then 'Executive Privilege" doesn't apply then, thank you for making that assertion!
