LYRICS
One by one I’ve been running out of vices
Too many prayers that never made it
Past my eyelids
Hold me under holy water
Drown the virus
The only enemy is the inner me
The only enemy is the inner me

I need a reason
Something to believe in
Someone to save me from myself
Broken and shattered
I’ve been a disaster
Only a miracle can help
Is it all by design?
A figure of fate
Will you give me a sign?
Before it’s too late
I need a godsend
’Cause I’ve been hellbent

Waking up inside another
Lucid nightmare
The devil knows me ’cause I’m spendin’
Too much time there
I’m a fighter but my demons
Never fight fair
I’m on my last prayer

The only enemy is the inner me
The only enemy is the inner me
The only enemy is the inner me
Don’t let the inner me, be the end of me

This is my favorite song on the album... "The only enemy, is the inner me" is a deep line, probably my favorite lyric on any wage war song, and following it up with "Don't let the inner me, be the end of me" is perfect..

I love that they got some country singers as co-writers on the album, it helps broaden their range and lets them dive into unfamiliar territories lyrically...

This is my song!!! I was faithless, until recent, I did not believe in spirits and God, tonight, I had my worst break down ever, as I was having my break down, this song started playing. Word for word hit me like a tone of bricks. It helped it open my eyes fully because this is exactly what I'm going through. After the song ended, it didn't stop, things kept happening. Good things! Things I started to hear that I needed too. People, God is real! Don't be scared, he loves us all! He loves me!

I low-key thought that they were saying “The only enemy is the enemy” I was so confused for so long😂 Don’t know why I didn’t just look at the description.

Super catchy chorus’s, solid breakdowns, evolving as musicians and finding your new sound… I hate it!

I just finished listening to this album! I want to preface my comment by saying that I understand everyone has their own likes and dislikes. Personally, the last 3 albums have had some good moments and a good amount of disappointing moments. I miss their Bluprints and Deadweight album style. Those are the type of albums where you hear them and realize that every single song and every moment is pleasing to the ear and was amazingly put together. In these 3 last albums, I see that the Blueprints and Deadweight Wage War is slowly fading away. I am glad to see glimpses of that Wage War, even in these last 3 albums, though rarely. At the end of the day, some bands are in the game to please people even if they don't like what they are playing. Others are in the game to strictly play what they love, regardless of whether they please people or not. Yet others, have a mix of both. I am not sure where Wage War stands in those options these days but, even in my HUGE preference to the Blueprints and Deadweight Wage War, my hope is that they are still loving what they are doing, even if it is far removed from what they were doing in Blueprints and Deadweight. However, this song and some others on this new album had some nice moments, even in the midst of the not-so-good moments.
