The problem isn’t too many sports it’s too many medals in certain sports. As amazing as Phelps and Biles are, there’s no way they should be able to win 5 golds in one Olympics for doing the same sport.

Trying to do classical chess at the olympics would be a logistical nightmare. Maybe rapids could work. But still nobody would watch it.
