If one more person says "they tied rope's to them" I'll scream!

The knobs also appear in Peru. Its definitely used for moving. They would get removed in the end but most pyramids were unfinished.

There are nubs on the top of the Stonehenge uprights and matching depressions on the lintels. They’re to hold things in place, like Lego. So I’d say these on the pyramid were for a similar purpose, to anchor the casing stones, which were also shaped to slot into the ledge above the bottom course, holding the casings in place.
Of course, we don’t actually know how the pyramids were constructed so it’s best guess.

What I find most shocking is that these are used around the globe on building projects yet we can't figure them out

Very interesting video.
Bosses probably assisted in transport of the blocks. How that was done is unclear but it may involve ropes?
It would be useful to see the opposite block surface for similar features.
Why are bosses not on all blocks?
Why were the bosses not removed? Much remains to be deciphered concerning these mysterious features.

Just like the ones you see in south America, it's not just coincidence

Anchor points for casing stones. Nubs on the lintel gives it away. In construction the nubs would be called inbeds or ledgers. The vertical protrusions would be called keys.

Back in the day, it was a requirement of the National Construction Code.

The nubs was faced down during transport to get access under for lifting.
stalefurset
Nubs probably first used to carry the stone until transportation of strong sleds and boats came
paulroberts
You think those were used to zipper the stones (I don't know the correct word) or used to help transport?
robtintelnot
Must have been vital since so much harder to shape than a flat "cut" face.
eopoep
The Romans and Greeks also used those knobs to lift big stones

These are on megalithic structures around the world. Amazing.
susanmyers
They are just what is left when the stone is cut out from the bedrock. The stones were polished as a last step when already placed on site, not at the quarry. Sometimes this last step was missed for various reasons.

Where they poured in the softened stone in the mould ?
joejoejoejoejoejoe
Obviously, stone softening techniques were practiced and anti gravity was also utilized! Fascinating 😎

I am curious about the practical reason of why some were left on. was it that the project was overdue and they just got left, or perhaps was there a reason for leaving them on till the end? like could they have been used as footholds or supports for moving stones up.
seankrake
So peru, Bolivia, no archeological explanation???
lloydpetry
IMHO not likely as support for casing stones, as they would be more uniform and numerous upon the whole face of the pyramid. Nonetheless, the nubs remain in place after construction of megalithic structures worldwide! Why wouldn't the masons chisel them off after they are in place?
