My first concert of Tomás Luis De Victoria's works, in the cathedral of Salamanca, in Spain, literally changed my life forever. This here is the best performance of any of his works that I have ever heard in my 60 years on this planet.

I epecially miss my choir during this quarantine time. All of our concerts got canceled. At least VOCES8 can remind me of our good times this season.

"Many of the great composers, from Palestrina to Mozart, set the 'Regina Caeli' to music, but for simplicity & complexity woven together, & for sheer liveliness, you can't improve upon the polyphonic setting by Tomás Luis de Victoria"

The Alleluia section at the end of the piece (2:48) just filled my spirit with shivers of gladness in a dark time! No one does it better than de Victoria, and you sang it superbly! Thank you for a bit of transcendent joy to get through the week! Bookmarked it.



I too miss my choir. We were preparing the London version of Brahm's Requiem, when CV-19 cancelled everything. Apropos for the dearly departed, but also so very humane and comforting for times like these.
