Why could you see more self-checkouts in the future?

The pandemic accelerated the switch over to customers swiping their own groceries.

Workers at Grocery stores are leaving faster than new workers are being hired is because 35% of customers are hard to deal with and make working at a grocery store hard and stressful.

This is the next step towards home delivery. People may not choose home delivery over the friendly fast checkout we used to have. They will definitely prefer it over having to check out large baskets of groceries on those little crappy checkout kiosks that have no room to bag checked items. In the future, our groceries will come from a non descript warehouse located in an industrial park and will be delivered to our door. Very small storefront locations will exist for immediate sales if people decide to not rob them very often.

self checkout have been around for years it's called smash and grab and looting.

Do not believe in the propaganda about jobs. Talk to people they will tell you there is a massive worker shortage.

Self checkout should be for a limited number of items, and not for a fully loaded shopping cart, and self checkout should be optional.

There’s no shortage in labor. There is a shortage in people willing to be abused by big corporations.

Walmart makes plenty of money, they could afford to pay their workers a good wage if they wanted to, and then you wouldn’t have to use self checkout.
