Road to Vostok is a hardcore single-player survival game set in a post-apocalyptic border zone between Finland and Russia.

This devlog is a behind-the-scenes documentary series for showcasing the current progress and features of the game. I also share some game development tips & tricks that I have learned through these years of making video games.

Really appreciate the effort into being so open about the design/inspirations for the game. This sounds very promising! Looks great man :)

Love the background, the story of how you decided to get going with this project. Excited to see what happens next!

putting this much effort into the pre-development AND being this transparent with your target-audience THIS early on are both huge signs that you're headed in the right direction!
looking forward to seeing more :)

Love from Poland! Instead of doing useless crap like photorealism, you focus on atmosphere and gameplay. You're doing better than most big-time studios! Good luck!

Escape from Tarkov has some seriously immersive and breathtaking enviroments. It would be great to see this project becoming as breathtaking, if not more. Keep it up.

Hardcore EFT player since 2017, I can't wait to get my hands on this game. Take your time man, make a game that you love, be transparent with the community and it will be a success. Looking forward to more news !

There seems to be clear inspiration, a pretty clear plan, and a decent show of skills that you believe will help you approach your roadmap goals. There is not much to say besides "good luck, " man. Can't wait to see future devlogs.

Man, what a great take on the genre. I absolutely love single player survivals like Chernobylite and of course, Stalker, but it seems you're taking the things forward. I'm crazy to see how brutal it will be.

I love this devblog because it is more of a lecture in game design with a subject game as the topic. I really want this to succeed over the very fact that this is so well planned and deliberated.

Just some thoughts from someone who's been playing hardcore survival games for over a decade
Make sure to pay extra attention to weapon/environmental blocking, nothing more frustrating than dying because your guy pulled his arm up/down when he didn't need to.
Having a system that pushes the gun left/right/back as well as up/down is a lot better than a system that just says gun up, gun down
The A.I. demonstrated from top-down looks very, well, artificial, having the bot actually scan his angles/corners before just aimlessly going all the way through a room would look way more human
Visuals are important, not for how the game looks, but how well you can see/identify threats, lighting/fog needs careful attention for a survival game

This looks like a fantastic foundation to build upon. One quick thing that makes a huge difference in a game like this would be being able to look down and see your legs. I know it's a small thing but it adds so much to immersion. Anyway, love what you are showing so far. Can't wait to see where this goes.

As a 3d artist an someone that has took a similar pain-staking path, taking on such a feat of becoming a solo game dev is by no means an easy task, especially when aiming for that stalker esq fps game that i myself have dreamt about^^ Looks real good so far and i look foward to seeing your progress.

Transparency as a game developer is to me a huge selling point, it shows not only that you are commited, it shows that you are truly passionate about your project. And to me, that is the most important aspect. You want to create something great that others can experience, not just churn out another cookie cutter game everyone will forget after a few weeks. Its your own form of art. It looks great so far man, keep it up and I'm excited to see what you can create!

One thing I’ve always loved about stalker was it’s ai. It felt very dynamic and made me think they weren’t just there for me to shoot at. It was like an actual “living” world which is a first for me despite the term being thrown around all the time with disappointing AAA games. I hope we get some semblance of that.

Tbh there aren't enough games like this so I'd gladly have more. Looking forward to seeing this project shaping up over time! We'd be glad to be a part of it!

This sounds and looks amazing!! As a software engineer, being able to achieve this as you have is a huge dream and I really encourage you to continue this journey. Also big Tarkov fan here so I'm really excited to see where your project goes! Also, any game dev tips are super welcome as I myself have been involved in game jams and other game dev related events :D!
