At least there's a tip to avoid being scammed - don't pay with a big note of 500 or 1000 baht for taxi drivers, small stalls or any kind of street vendors; they might not have changes for you.

I love this airport (thanks for helping me pronounce the name by the way). It's kind of my go to airport these days as I make my way around SE Asia. Great advice about getting the taxi to start the meter, so many refuse these days so I usually end up using Grab or getting the bus for convenience. Also you are right, the drivers never usually have much change 😊 Great guide!

For some reason, I end up with flights that arrive at BKK at midnight. I feel like a target for scams since it's late at night and I'm exhausted after nearly 30 hours of transit. For the next trip, the hotel reservation offered an additional taxi service for $1000 THB, so I went ahead and bought it. I probably paid too much, but after the long ordeal of a BKK arrival, I just want to get to the hotel with a minimum of hassle.
