Does VP Pence Have the Legal Authority to Reject Electors?

Certifying the Electoral College votes in Congress is normally a formality, but as President Donald Trump continues his quest to remain in office it is taking on new significance. The certification, which normally takes about an hour, could go well into the evening as some GOP lawmakers plan to object to some of the electoral college votes. The objections will eventually put all eyes on VP Pence, who the president claims has the power to reject electors.

Legal experts, like conservative Jay Sekulow, agree that the VP does not have that authority.
